Metallica - Ultra Rare Tracks:
1. Train Kept a Rollin'
Train Kept A-Rollin' is a song written by Tiny Bradshaw, Howard Kay, and Lois Mann. Bradshaw first recorded the song in 1951. The Yardbirds helped make the song a garage-rock staple when they covered it on the 1965 album Having a Rave Up. On April 4, 2009, Metallica performed this classic at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony in Cleveland together with their former bandmate Jason Newsted and Flea, Ron Wood, Jimmy Page, Joe Perry and Jeff Beck.
2. Veteran of the Psychic Wars
Veteran of the Psychic Wars was originally recorded by Blue Öyster Cult in 1981 on the Fire of Unknown Origin album. It was performed only once by Metallica at the Bridge School Benefit on 28th Oct. 2007.
3. Only Happy When It Rains
Only Happy When It Rains was originally recorded by Garbage in 1995 on the Garbage album. It was performed only once by Metallica at the Bridge School Benefit on 27th Oct. 2007.
4. All Within My Hands
This was the first time All Within My Hands, from 2003's St. Anger, has been performed live in any form. Also from the Bridge School Benefit on 27th Oct. 2007.
5. The Other New Song
What happened to this song? It was performed a couple of times on the Escape from the Studio Tour in 06, but is has not been officialy released yet. This is from the Seoul Show, August 15, 2006 – the third time that The Other New Song has been performed.
6. Nothing Else Matters
This version of Nothin Else Matters was performed at the Download Festival, Donington, England, June 6, 2004. Lars did not play at this show due to a medical emergency. The first and only show he has missed in the history of Metallica. Joey Jordison from Slipknot stepped in and did it pretty well!
7. Disposable Heroes (instrumental)
This version of Disposable Heros is a demo version without vocals. It was recorded in July 85.
8. Hit The Lights
This is the original version of Hit The Lights and also Metallica's first official release! It is taken from the first Metal Massacre compilation where the band name was spelled Mettallica by mistake. It features James on vocals (not on guitar!), Dave Mustaine on guitars, Ron McGonney on bass and Lars on drums of course.
